General Meeting for October 13th 2017.
Kevin Salwach will be speaking about this day in astronomy history, covering some of astronomy’s notable figures.
Kevin Salwach is a councillor-at-large with the Hamilton Amateur Astronomers, and has been a member of the club for almost a decade. Kevin first discovered his love of the cosmos at McMaster’s McCallion Planetarium in winter 2008, and after seeing Saturn through Jim Wamsley’s telescope at an HAA public night the following spring, he was hooked for life. An avid amateur astronomer, pilot, hunter and trapper, Kevin can frequently be found observing the stars from the balcony of his apartment in downtown Hamilton or enjoying the great outdoors in the forests of Flamborough and Dundas.
The October 13, 2017 Annual General Meeting marks the end of another fiscal year for the club and as such it is time to select our council for the upcoming year. Posted below are the positions that need to be filled.
- Second Chair
- Directors and Councillors
- Education Director
- Event Horizon Editor
- Membership Director
- Observing Director
- Publicity Director
Please nominate a candidate of your choice for any one or more positions. You may nominate yourself. If you feel that you have something to contribute to the club, this is the time to stand and be counted! If you want to be more involved with the activities of the club but don’t want to be a council member, we are always looking for good people that want to help out in any way. We call these people Councillors-at-Large. Let us know if you are interested in a C-at-L position (not an elected position).
Eligibility to vote: An Individual or Honorary member in good standing is entitled to one vote. A Family membership in good standing entitles two family members to one vote each.
