We recognize the importance of protecting the
privacy of our members and that of visitors to our website. To
demonstrate our commitment to this we are disclosing, here, our
practices with regard to collection and use of information
volunteered by you in your dealings with The Hamilton Amateur
Astronomers. We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy to
reflect new features or content, but this document (and any
revisions) will always be displayed on our website in the public
domain.
The intent of this document is to outline:

How the information may be shared

Collection and Use
The Hamilton Amateur Astronomers
("HAA", "we", "us") is a non-profit
organization, and the sole owner of the information collected through
our website or via any form of communication with you. Except for
actions described in this policy, we shall endeavour not to disclose
your information to others.
From potential members we require
only information necessary for identification and communication
purposes. Other data relayed to us (usually articles or pictures of
astronomical interest to the general membership) may be “published”
on our website, distributed by e-mail, or reprinted in our newsletter
– The Event Horizon. Permission to do so will be taken
as implied when you forward such items, however, as original creator
you retain all claims to any subsequent benefits.
Information
you provide will not be sold or intentionally provided for the
promotion of endeavours outside of the Club or it’s
publications. While we will always attempt to credit the author with
any “general interest” submissions, we will not accept
responsibility for third parties reproducing content from our
publications. All correspondence received will be kept for as long as
it is needed or relevant.
Personal information collected is available to the HAA Council and may be released to a member or non-member on request, or as required by law. You may request restrictions on such information exchange although it could impede our ability to interact with you with regard to Club business.
Although
our website host may collect statistical internet information from
users accessing our site, we do not utilize cookies or seek to
identify visitors. This Site may contain links to other websites.
Other websites may or may not have privacy policies. We are not
responsible for the practices of other sites. This Privacy Policy
applies solely to information collected by this Site.
While
we may occasionally canvas for monetary support; we do not request
nor have the ability to take online payments – any indication
otherwise should be reported to the Club Chair. Though commonly
accepted security protocols are provided by our Internet host,
visitors to our site should exercise the same precaution as when
visiting any other site and be aware that e-mail is not secure
against interception. Your use of the Internet and this Site is at
your own risk and you agree that we have no responsibility or
liability for the security of personal information transmitted via
this Site, the Internet in general, or through any other
medium.
Correcting or updating personal information
Upon
your written request to the Club Chair, we will provide information
we have on file about you. You may review and request any such
information updated or deleted.
