Nice shot John. Nicely exposed with the city in the foreground.

Heard about this while at Black Forest Star Party. I tried to spot it one it night in my scope and thru a larger scope another night without luck. Later found out that no scar appeared this time - probably accounts for why we didn't see anything.

Wow, what a view! This is the first time I've seen the ISS overhead and seeing it fly tandem with Discovery was a fantastic treat! I couldn't resist pointing it out to some strangers walking by my driveway completely unaware of the show above them.

Nice report! Glad that you had good viewing.
A few of us went out to Binbrook, but were clouded out during totality. It cleared shortly after totality ended and we got to see the final partial phases.
Still had a great time! Every eclipse is worth it.

So 7 of us were there at Binbrook, and clouds were
intermittent, then constant, then intermittent again.
It finally cleared nicely about 3/4 of the way through totality, and i saw the sun again illuminate the edge of the moon before heading home about 4:15 AM.

Thanks for the great reminder, Don. And don't forget everyone, much of this information, including the identical map, is available in our newsletter, the Event Horizon.

Excellent report, Jeff! Makes me want to go to NY. It also makes me miss the old McLaughlin Planetarium in Toronto. I remeber seeing a tv program from when they remodelled the Hayden and it looked great. You're lucky to have had a chance to visit. Thanks for posting this on the blog. Very worthwhile reading. (I hope you took pictures!)

I saw one really bright streak to the north through my living room window. My hubby was doing meteor scatter and reported that it was pretty good this year.

I headed out to Tyneside on Monday night around 9:30pm. No one was around initially so I set up my camera to snap the Pleiades and Orion while the skies were clear and not too much frost.

Martin stopped by for visit and then later Joe showed up. During our time there, 2 different groups of students came by to watch the show. Not sure where the first group came from, but the 2nd were from Redeemer.

I figured I saw about 70 Leonids and approx 20 sporadics. Judging from the comments of the others, I also missed a few. Lots of interesting colours in the meteors: white, yellow, orange-red, and green. Quite a mix from different gases being ionized. I even saw one shoot by within 2 degrees of Mars, but of course I didn't have the camera ready at that time. Finally the frost, the clouds and the light encroachment from Hamilton caused me to pack it in around 3:45am. But it was an enjoyable night.

On another note, we are due to pass through the second (and heavier) stream today (Tuesday) between 4 and 5 pm. Although the predicted peak is over by the time the sun sets here, it may still be worth having a look as soon as it gets dark, around 5:30 pm. Good luck!

Well, after I got home late from work last night I tried to watch for meteors from my deck here in downtown Hamilton, but with no luck at all. I hope some others had more success!
