Astrophotography by Peter Ceravolo

I have known Peter ever since he was an inquisitive pre-teen that pestered me and every member of the Hamilton Centre of the RASC about his desire to built telescopes. He wrote articles, ground glass, and talked non-stop about optics until he was in a league of his own in the telescope world.

Much water has flowed under the bridge since then. Peter has grown to become one of the finest small telescope makers in the world. He has maintained an interest in promoting amateur astronomy and is presently the second National Vice-President of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. On occasion, Peter dabbles in observational astronomy; the pictures on this page are examples of his handiwork.

After spending a year doing CCD imaging, Peter decided to take some real photos with a new 15 cm. photo visual telescope he had just completed. These pictures are the result of his efforts in the first two weeks of film-based astrophotography. All photos are a one-hour exposure on Kodak film. I think that you will agree that this is a stunning collection.
